Family and The Early Years

Stephen was born in Akron, Ohio in 1983 and grew up in the city of Green, graduating from Green High School in 2002. After holding several jobs during college, he finally ended up working at Charles Schwab for 9 years before entering into full-time, vocational ministry. During this time, he met and married his beautiful wife, Meghann in 2008, and have 2 children, Lilyann and Lucas.

Stephen accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour In August of 1989 through the faithful witness of his mother, Patricia, using a total lunar eclipse as an illustration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Just as the shadow of the earth passed over the “old moon” to make a “new moon,” so it is with Jesus Christ. According to John 3:16 and 2 Corinthians 5:17, God gave his only Son as a substitute for our sins, and if anyone puts their complete faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ they can become a “new creature” just like the “new moon.” It was at that moment that Stephen understood his sinfulness and his need for the Saviour, and he called on Jesus Christ to save him (Romans 10:13).

Ministry Training

Alongside various ministry roles and responsibilities throughout the years at FBCJ that was preparing him for the call to full-time vocational ministry, Stephen earned a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies degree from Moody Bible Institute in December of 2006 and completed the four year Jackson Bible Institute and School of Ministry curriculum at FBCJ. He resigned from Charles Schwab to follow the call of the Lord into the ministry, and was licensed to preach the gospel and teach the Bible in September of 2013. He served a one year internship at the church and was officially ordained a minister of the Gospel on October 19th, 2014.

Church Ministry

After joining FBCJ as a member in 2004, Stephen jumped right into the Singles and music ministries and participated in several mission trips to the Philippines and Costa Rica. From 2007-2013 he led the Jr. High ministry (6 years), led the music during the Sunday morning worship service and taught/coordinated the adult bible study classes (1 year). In addition, Stephen helped to start and lead the VBS ministry and lead multiple mission trips to Ireland that focused on Children’s ministry, teen ministry, and discipleship.

Ministry Today

Stephen’s primary responsibilities today are leading the Sr. High ministry (S.O.L.I.D.) and overseeing the Jr. High (Grounded), Children’s, VBS, and Kid’s Club ministries.
