JOYCE THRONESS Joyce was born in
Haiti,
the second daughter of World Team Missionaries,
Chester and Doris Throness.
After falling from a 2 story
building at age 5 and knowing that God had spared her life, Joyce prayed that
Jesus would come into her heart.At that
time, she knew she would serve God in full time ministry.At the age of 17, Joyce recommitted her life
to the Lord.
Joyce returned to
Haiti
for a short term of 1 ½ years to work as a secretary in the World Team Foster
Care office.She then attended
BibleCollege
and graduated in 1977 with a major in Missions and a minor in Music.
Returning to the mission field in
Haiti
in 1979, Joyce was formally accepted with World Team and was involved in Guest
House ministry for 13 years.She also
worked in the World Team
Canada
office and lived in
Pennsylvania
for 4 years, working full time as a secretary in the World Team International
office.Her most recent assignment
brought her back from a Guest House ministry in the
Philippines.
Currently, Joyce is serving at
the Center for Intercultural Training in Union Mills, NC, where she manages the
kitchen and cafeteria, preparing and serving meals to missionaries in
training.Joyce often works 10 to 12
hour days and depends heavily on volunteer assistance.
Future plans include returning to
the
Philippines
to work with Kasma Ministries, an organization which trains and encourages
Filipino leaders.
