Sunday School is the place to help the children learn the vital importance of the Word of God. We place an emphasis on both the message of salvation and the practical applications for daily living. Psalm 119:11 says, “Thy word have I hid in mine heart that I might not sin against thee.” The children's ministry of First Baptist Church of Jackson is built around having fun learning the Scriptures. Each class has a challenging Bible lesson with applications for the saved and unsaved child. These are supported with lively songs, Scripture memory work, and exciting review games. All activities center around the main truth from the Bible lesson. Trained, screened, loving volunteers provide a safe creative atmosphere for learning.

We have trained and experienced caregivers to attend to your baby's needs while you attend our services. Your new baby can be fed according to your instructions and nursing Moms can be with their children as necessary. Active babies can play and interact in the “play yard” while those who need to rest or swing can do so in equipment we provide.

One year old walkers up to 2 year olds participate in active learning with song time, Bible story time and puzzle and play centers. Those able to be involved will prepare a craft related to the story with adult assistance for the younger tots. A simple snack is offered during the church session.

These individual classes are specially designed to fit the need of your child until they are ready to graduate into the Kindergarten class. We teach a Bible story as well as stories to apply the Bible truths and scripture memory verses. During song time, children will learn traditional children’s songs and the motions that go with them. Table time activities include crafts, coloring, and fun games. Active play is encouraged with relay races and skits that your child can participate in to help understand the Bible story. A simple snack is offered during the church session.

This class is similar to our Pre-Primary class, with stories and activities tailored to your child entering into Kindergarten. Understanding that these children are experiencing a great curve in learning, we will continually expand our lessons and crafts to enable them to utilize their newfound skills and interests. Every week children will be exposed to the Gospel through pictures, songs, stories, and scripture memory verses. A simple snack is offered during the church session.

Designed for 1st through 3rd grade and 4th through 5th grade respectively, these classes will help your child learn more about Jesus and His Word and how it relates to their life personally. At a greater level, they will learn how to love others and share the love of Christ. They will participate in lively songs, Bible stories, scripture memory verses, games, activities and crafts all in an exciting atmosphere!
